It’s Murder, Dontcha Know by Mary Aalgaard

February 8-9 | Sat 7:30pm / Sun 2:00pm

It’s Murder, Dontcha Know, based on the novel by Jeanne Cooney, is a quirky, cozy murder mystery set in the Northwest area of Minnesota where nothing much ever happens. Until, a robbery and a murder happen in the same week. Between bites of hotdish and wild game feeds, the rumors fly. Doris steps out of her quiet farm life and into crime solving mode when her children become prime suspects. With the help of the local law enforcement and her natural tendencies for gathering information, she digs into the lives of her friends and neighbors to find the real killer.

About the Playwright

Mary Aalgaard is a playwright and piano/theater teacher, living in the heart of Minnesota. She writes theater reviews and supports the arts through her blog Play off the Page, and is a member of the Twin Cities Theater Bloggers. “It’s Murder, Dontcha Know” is Mary’s first stage adaptation from a novel. She’d like to thank Jeanne Cooney, author of “It’s Murder, Dontcha Know,” for trusting her with this story. Also, much gratitude for everyone who has helped her along this journey, including Krista Soukup and her writing community who made the first connections, and to the fabulous cast and crew for lending their time and talents, the kindest most creative director Guy Kelm, and the staff at Central Lakes College Theater Department. Thank you, dear audience, for supporting the theater arts! Much thanks to Austene Van for inviting me to be part of this “One Woman Playwright Festival”. Thanks to New Dawn and Yellow Tree and Springboard for the Arts!
