Sisters try to relive their childhood memories of joy while camping on a small island in the “northiest” part of the US. Totally under-prepared they take on the wilds of Madeline Island. They also uncover the truthiest part of their families identity which has lingering affects on their psyche. It’s a comedy… Is it?
About the Playwright
George Keller is a bold and versatile performer known for her distinct voice, endless wit, and improvisational approach. George began her acting career in Minneapolis before attending The American Academy of Dramatic Art in New York City. She returned to the Twin Cities to play “Tina in Tony N Tina's Wedding” where she performed more than 2,000 performances over a decade. Over her 30-year career as a Twin Cities actor, George has had memorable roles with Penumbra Theatre, Mixed Blood Theatre, Yellow Tree Theatre (Misery), Pillsbury Theater, History Theatre, Guthrie Theater, The Jungle Theater and Ten Thousand Things.
George has been writing for as long as she has been acting. Many are short stories commenting on her family’s dynamics but also sketches for Dudley Riggs Brave New Workshop and her own show “The All Star Variety Show Bonanza” at Bryant Lake Bowl.
She was a MSAB 2023 Creative Support for Individuals grant recipient. This gave her the opportunity to write “The Bear”. This is her first full-length play. Please enjoy.
