by Charles Fraser

A mystery farce adapted from the play Seven Keys to Baldpate by George M. Cohan, based on the novel of the same name by Earl Derr Biggers

A 1913 mysterious melodramatic farce is brought back to life as a fast-paced, quick-change, madcap caper.  William Magee must make it through one night alone in a summer resort during a winter storm. The inn is locked up for the season, and Magee has the only key.  Or, does he? Magee is visited by the corrupt politician, the crooked cop, the beautiful reporter, the greedy millionaire, the kooky widow, the nutty hermit, and the gang of dangerous criminals. Can Magee make it through the night without the hotel safe being robbed of the cash earmarked for the railroad deal?  Will he be able to resist the charms of the femme fatale? How many keys to the hotel can be accounted for? With seven keys and a cast of only three actors, see this heist careen off the rails with romance, intrigue, and murder.

A Collaboration Celebrating Women’s Month!

“Being a woman in leadership often presents unique challenges that aren’t insurmountable but there is a heightened awareness of certain obstacles which must and will be overcome. While theaters are very slowly but surely crawling out of the lingering effects of a two-year shutdown due to the pandemic, it has become necessary to realize the power of unity, connectivity, community and support within our strong theater community. It is becoming a viable model for local theaters to hold one another up through this crucial time. What an inspiration to work with, support and uplift a fellow female, Artistic Director and her excellent company. The Fellowship with Calyssa Hall’s Frosted Glass Creative is refreshing water in an arid land.”

- Austene Van, Yellow Tree Theatre Executive Artistic Director

“Shaping anything collaboratively with another human, especially one whose heart pounds with a similar passion, is one of the most precious and powerful things we get to do as artists, women, and leaders. Right now, theaters across the nation are looking for new strategies, financial sustainability, and ways to re-engage their audiences with live performance. We have the opportunity and great pleasure to support one another in this pursuit by sharing resources, thought, and creativity. It is exciting, it is held with intention, and it is healing. Having the utmost respect for Ms. Austene Van, and having long admired the way she carries herself in the theatre community, it is a deep honor and delight to partner with her and Yellow Tree Theatre on these productions!”

-Calyssa Hall, Frosted Glass Creative Artistic Director
