Jason Peterson, Co-founder & Executive Artistic Director Jason Peterson is the Artistic Director and co-founder of Yellow Tree Theatre. Jason has worked as an actor in television, film and theater in New York and Minneapolis over the past twelve years. Recent projects include: Fool for Love & Rabbit Hole (Jungle Theater); Grace, Death of a Salesman, Clybourne Park, The Pavilion, String, Miracle on Christmas Lake, Our Town, The Rainmaker and The Glass Menagerie (YTT). Jason was recently noted in Mpls. St. Paul Magazine as a “Risk Taker” & “Scene Shaper” in the Twin Cities artistic community. He holds a BFA in Acting from the University of MN Duluth. Jason and his wife, Jessica, founded YTT together in 2008.
Jessica Lind Peterson, Co-founder & Communications Director Jessica Lind Peterson is co-founder of Yellow Tree along with her husband, Jason. Jessica is an actress and playwright and her plays have been produced in all over the country and here at YTT. Plays include: Flowers for the Room (co-written by Blake Thomas), Miracle on Christmas Lake I & II, A Hunting Shack Christmas, A Gone Fishin' Christmas, What I Learned From Grizzly Bears (published by Smith & Kraus), String (KCACTF Mark Twain Comedy Award Runner-up) and Lena Long Legs. Jessica holds a BA in English & Theater from the University of MN Duluth and is an MFA candidate in Creative Writing at Hamline University. She is also a published essayist and the proud mom of two light-saber loving little boys.
Peter Carlson, Managing Director A native Minnesotan, Peter was most recently the General Manager of The Rose Ensemble, a professional vocal ensemble in St. Paul. Before that, he worked as a Lutheran church musician for 17 years. Peter has a B.A. in Music from the University of Wisconsin-Superior, and a Master of Sacred Music degree from Luther Seminary and St. Olaf College. Peter loves to travel and has a special interest in international service programs. Other interests include theater, reading, and spending time at the cabin. Peter is extremely excited to be part of the team at Yellow Tree Theatre and is inspired by their mission of bringing great theatrical stories to all people.
Bailey Hess, Patron Services Manager Bailey currently lives in Minneapolis, and received her B.A. in Communication Studies at St. Cloud State University. Most recently, she worked for the Minnesota Historical Society at Mill City Museum and the Oliver Kelley Farm. She is currently pursuing an MFA in Arts and Cultural Management at Denver University. During the winter months, she serves as Head Coach for the Mounds View High School Speech Team. She can occasionally be seen on Minneapolis stages, most often with Smartmouth Comedy and at HUGE Theater. In her spare time, she consumes theatre and improv, cross stitches, Netflixes, and cuddles as many cats as her arms can hold.
Matthew A. Gilbertson, Technical Director Matt is a Scenic Carpenter, Fabricator, and Designer from the Twin Cities area. During the day he can be found in The Guthrie Theater scene shop where he is a staff carpenter. His work has been seen in various theatres including The Guthrie, Season’s Dinner Theatre, Orpheum Theatre, Playwright's Center as well as many metro high schools. He also works as a fabricator for Brown Knows Design in Duluth. Matt holds an MFA in Technical Direction, and a BFA in Theatre Design and Technology from Minnesota State University, Mankato.
